Interview with the Discovery Channel on Lyon Sculpture Park

Discovery Communications, the mega-entertainment corporation, launched a show this month called Autoweek’s Vinsetta Garage.   It unleashes the passion for the automobile and the fervor that fuels us. Thirty minutes of unadulterated car enthusiasm served hot off the manifold and torn from Autoweek’s editorial pages– covering everything from design to driving, customization, cooking and cruisin’, travel, technology and more. This is the stuff that people who live the automotive lifestyle care about, in a high-octane show that moves as if it’s got a twin-turbo V8.

I was contacted to appear on the show because of my recent sculpture located in Lyon Sculpture Park in New Hudson Michigan.  I had an interview with the producers of the show to discuss the influence of Public Art on the American Landscape.  200,000 people a day drive by the Lyon Sculpture Park and the positioning of the "Mephisto" sculpture confronts every driver with a conversation about public art.  The interview will appear in an upcoming episode of the show and promote the Sauve Art Foundation tagline, "Building Communities through Public Art".

Named for a storied auto-repair shop on Detroit’s legendary Woodward Avenue, Autoweek’s Vinsetta Garage is the hottest thing to come out of Detroit since the Motown sound. While it originates in the Motor City, Autoweek’s Vinsetta Garage puts a new shine on sheetmetal and people who live for cars everywhere.
